Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz has urged Israel to stop its “illegal actions” in the occupied territory.
Yildiz said Israel’s “ongoing attacks on the Palestinian people, their rights, their land, their security, and their dignity” make addressing the root causes of this problem an urgent necessity.
Yildiz, as the chairperson of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), presented the OIC group’s statement at the “Arria formula” meeting on “West Bank and East Jerusalem”, at the UN Security Council on Friday.
“In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, we strongly condemn Israel’s illegal actions, its expansion of settlements, its annexation plans, its settler terrorism, and its violations against the holy sites of Islam and Christianity, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque,” he said, while also calling for an end to ceasefire violations by Israel in Gaza.
“We condemn all colonisation measures, including the seizure and demolition of Palestinian homes and the expulsion of Palestinian families. Such illegal actions must cease,” he said.
